These stories are based on a set of Kaytetye stories compiled by Myfany Turpin and Alison Ross in 1998 (© 1998 Institute of Aboriginal Development and Thangkenharenge Aboriginal Corporation). They were translated into Eastern Anmatyerr by Hilda Pwerl, Gracie Ampetyan, Rosie Ampetyan, Janie Ampetyan and Elsie Numina of Ilewerr (Stirling) community, and Jenny Green from the Central Australian Dictionaries Program (CADP), Institute for Aboriginal Development. Bush potato
Ipomoea costata
There are lots of bush potatoes to the north of here.
We go there to dig bush potatoes.
The bush potato tubers are underground.
The bush potato is cooked in the fire.
It is put aside to cool, and then it is eaten.
It tastes really good.
You can taste this nice food and then eat it.
