English Translation
1  A mother echidna on a hill had a little baby that had no spines.
3  The father went to talk to the child’s auntie.
5  The father "aid to the auntie,
   "My child back there doesn't have any spines."
7  The auntie and father set out again. The two of them went to talk to the child's grandmother
9  The father said to the grandma,
   "My child back there on the hill doesn't have any spines."
11 Then the father and auntie and grandma set out again.
13 They all went to speak to the child’s uncle. The father said to the uncle,
   "My child back there on the hill doesn’t have any spines."
15 The father rounded up all the echidnas. He took them all a long way away to his place on the hill to see the little baby echidna.
17 They came together to help that little baby. They all stayed with that baby with no spines for a very long time. They sang it so that it would grow spines.
19 Then when it had grown big and got spines, all the relatives went back to their own homes again.
