Biographical history Colin Roderick (1911-2000) was a writer, editor, academic and educator. He worked as an editor, then as a director, at Angus & Robertson (publishers) from 1945-65, before taking up the position of Foundation Professor, English Literature at the later-named James Cook University in Townsville (1965-75).He established the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies and was associated with it until his death. The Colin Roderick Award (presented annually by the Foundation) is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious literary awards. The author of numerous critical and other works, Roderick is best known for his multi-volume collection of Henry Lawson’s verse and prose, and for his critical and biographical works on Lawson.
