Scope and contents Letters written by educator Beth Graham to her family when she was living in Milingimbi, Yirrkala and Croker Island during the 1960s. Many have been published by the NT Historical Society (2015) as ‘Dear Family: Letters from Arnhem Land 1962-1966’. The collection also includes other related items created during and after the period of the letters.

Biographical history From AustLit website (see link below):

Beth Graham arrived in Yirrkala in 1962, where she worked as a teacher for the Methodist Mission School. In 1973 she developed and implemented the school's first bilingual education program. In 1979, she worked as an education advisor for the Curriculum and Assessment Branch of the Northern Territory Department of Education, and became the first female principal education officer in bilingual education.
