Abstract It has always been believed that the Violin Sonatas & Partitas were completed while Johann Sebastian was still working at the Cothen Court. Yet strangely, as discussed in my article on the Anna Magdalena manuscript of the Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas & Partitas in the October 2007 of 'Stringendo', both she and Johann Peter Kellner deviate from the '1720 Autograph' in such a manner that strongly suggests that the '170 Autograph' may not be what we have come to accept.
