Abstract The prospective study of participants recruited around birth and followed through life, known as birth cohort studies is discussed. The methods used for the Wave 3 follow-up of young adults of the Aboriginal Birth Cohort with an aim of the prospective longitudinal study of a birth cohort and its results is explained.
