A note on the environmental and natural resource management programs in Australia since 1989, which include voluntary development, community-based landcare development, the evolution of a regional scale delivery model based on catchment management organizations, and the push for more evidence-based investment and reporting. The approach to managing Australia's natural capital needs to be developed against many challenges is mentioned.
